I am so excited about this!! I convinced my DH to travel to Turks and Caicos for his birthday in Feb of next year, and I am planning to reduce the costs substantially using credit card rewards!
So, what will the trip involve?
Dates:
– Feb 5th to Feb 13, 2022
Itinerary:
– Fly Delta to New York on Feb 5th, explore the city
– Stay the night at Hilton Garden Inn Times Square
– Fly Jet Blue to Providenciales on Feb 6th
– Stay at The All New Grace Bay Suites for 6 nights (Feb 6th to Feb 12th), breakfast included
– Fly Jet Blue to New York on Feb 12th
– Stay another night at Hyatt Regency JFK Airport (not much time to explore NYC that day)
– Fly Delta back home on Feb 13th
Credit Card travel awards:
– 41K Delta miles and $23 for two round trips, for the total value of $615 (1.5 cents per mile)
– 24K Ultimate Rewards (UR) points and $187 for two round trips to Providenciales, total value of $590 (1.7 cents per point)
– 12K UR points for Hyatt Regency stay, total value of $406 (3.4 cents per point)
– $104 free night from Hotels.com for Hilton Garden Inn, with $7 paid in taxes
– Unfortunately, there are not many point based accommodations in Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), so for now I am planning to pay cash for the All New Grace Bay suites stay, as well as for our food and entertainment while in TCI.
In total, credit card travel rewards saved us $1,520. While it’s far from being free or nearly free, it alleviate some financial burden of the otherwise relatively expensive trip for two.
Soo looking forward to the actual trip in February!!
